Highly recommended hotel with fabulous breakfast

We loved the mission of the hotel, providing job training and experience. The staff were friendly and helpful. We thoroughly enjoyed the delicious, generous breakfast with homemade breads and Norwegian specialties and complementary waffles with jam and coffee or tea in the early evening. The location was convenient for exploring Bergen. The bed was comfortable and the shower was great.

Nice little hotel with character!

A nice little hotel with plenty of character and views of Bergen. Clean and good variety of food for continental breakfast. Heated flooring in the bathroom was lovely to have as well and the bed was very comfortable. Lunch and dinner available too. Provided you're happy to walk up a hill it's very close to amenities and the harbour area so overall very happy with our stay. I would definitely come back.

Not a problem for us, but maybe an issue for others - the rooms are up one/two flights of stairs and no lift. We had four suitcases (two large) so after a long day travelling it was tiring to carry them up but I'm sure the hotel would have been able to help, if necessary. The room was also very warm when we arrived but it was a loft room and the heating had been left on so we just left the window open (not very efficient but it was 0 degrees outside so soon cooled it back down!)

Excellent and very pleasant stay at a quite reasonable price

The simple and cozy atmosphere, the excellent position, the Norvay style and varied breakfast, the waffles offred by the Hotel in the evening time (17-20).

The comfort of the bed could be improved as well as the lightening position above the bed.

What was the highlight of Klosterhagen Hotel

Excellent value and righteous mission in Bergen!

Loved the breakfast and the mission of the place, to bring people back into the workforce who had been excluded. Location is very good, not far from Centrum and a short downhill walk to Hurtigruten terminal. Beds were comfortable, maybe a tad soft but I was too tired to care. The tap water tasted really good, so I didn't think we needed bottled water. Very nice touch to have waffles in the evening. Breakfast was comprehensive with nice smoked fish, eggs of several styles, yogurts, cheese, meat, excellent juice. I cannot fault it whatsoever, I did not miss anything at all...and the best part is it is included in the price! I did not see too many lodgings that had included breakfast...another hotel would charge $22 USD...each!! So I consider this very excellent value! There were some handmade artisan pieces for purchase that also benefited the local mission, liked this idea so much that I found my favorite souvenirs of the trip, some unique glass fish.

The bed was a tad soft and the room was of course a bit squeazy, but again, for the price, I think it was very good value! You can take a bus from Centrum if you can wait for it, otherwise, it is an uphill jaunt with luggage if you don't take it.

Great staff, location, and breakfast

Wonderfully friendly staff, fantastic location, and an impressive buffet breakfast. The complimentary waffles in the afternoon were yummy and such a nice touch!

Room was obviously well cleaned but had a faint smell of cigarettes. The scent was not overwhelming but noticeable.

The rooms on the top floor (attic) have slanted walls that are not very comfortable if you're tall. It is an old building and a bit noisy. It is very charming though!

Wonderful

Amazing spot, right in the middle of Bergen’s cute houses you see in pictures! Walking distance to basically every interesting spot in the city. The hotel itself is very comfortable and cozy, with a very relaxing atmosphere. Very comfortable bed, silent room, and everything else you need in the room and the bathroom is there! Reception is 24/7, so very good if you have a late flight. My only note is about breakfast: it is EXCELLENT, a lot of savoury food (salmon, cheese, eggs, even falafel and meatballs), cereal, and pretty amazing bread. The only thing for me, for my personal taste, I missed some pastry and sweet food, and there was little fruit. So just in case you are more of an Italian breakfast person, you know. But really overall worth the money and would definitely return!

We really liked it, no negative comments. Simple, but nice enough.

Very good location (if you come from the airport, just take the light train and get off at the last stop, go straight for about 8 min and you will find the hotel), the centre is very close (but not too noisy), historical site of the city. The staff were very nice, good breakfast, good value for money. We got a room with a nice view (305) and we really enjoyed it. We really liked that they clean the rooms everyday. Clean bathroom with what you need. There was a kettle and a hairdryer in the room. They also have laundry service if you need one. They have complimentary waffles in the afternoon, but just one per person it is very nice!

Perhaps it depends on what you expect. Don’t expect a tv in your room, there is one, but you can use it just as a display for your own tv streaming from a phone. Don’t expect a very soundproof room because it is an old building, so it is quite natural.

A very pleasant smaller hotel, giving a warm welcome and serving an excellent breakfast. The bedroom and bathroom were exceptionally clean. The location is convenient for walking into the centre of Bergen (if a little hilly)!

Wonderful

The hotel is located in a lovely quiet part of town with lots of traditional buildings, a short walk from the last stop on the light rail route from the airport. Very easy to get to all the main sights in town on foot, and also nice to take a stroll around this part of town. The hotel itself was nice and comfortable, with a decent breakfast and nice to get coffee and waffles at 5pm. All the staff in the hotel were nice and friendly. We enjoyed our stay and really liked Bergen itself.
